Description
A superb example of an early 20th-century wooden and brass fishing reel, stamped “SUN” with the patent number 13368/05 (registered in 1905) 100mm diameter.
This classic Nottingham-style reel was made in England, most likely by Reuben Heaton’s works in Birmingham under the SUN brand.
Features include:
• Solid turned hardwood side plates (mahogany or similar)
• Brass cross-bracing and fittings
• Original brass line guard (patented 1905 design)
• Dual ebonite/Bakelite handles
• Stamped “SUN” and “PATENT No.13368/05”
