David Woodlock Watercolour - The Old White Horse Inn, St Ives, Huntingdonshire

David Woodlock (1852-1929) was a figure and landscape and garden painter who was born in Ireland. He lived in Liverpool, Sheffield and Leamington Spa, Warks. He was a key figure in the development of a distinct school of Liverpool painters. He produced some truly beautiful cottage scenes and views of Venice. He was a founder member and later President of the Liver Sketching Club and also a member of the Liverpool Academy of Arts. He developed an individualistic style of watercolour painting where he the bleeding together of colours often produced dramatic results.
