Early Georgian Oak Grandfather Longcase Clock

Slim and elegant 18th Century antique oak longcase clock with well engraved brass dial for Richard Vaughan of Watlington Oxfordshire. He was apprenticed in 1732 and worked till towards the end of the 18th Century. Only 84.25in (7ft 0.25in) or 214cm high. The oak case has a long slim trunk door. All with attractive graining and raised on bracket feet. The hood with cushion top and columns which form part of the hood door in the late 17th Century / early 18th Century preference. The glass to the hood door is old with air bubbles and is probably original. The 8-day twin weight movement strikes the number of hours on the o’clock on a crisp clear bell which has been checked, serviced and tested and is in good working order - It keeps good time.
