Pike & Co., 19, Grand Parade, Brighton, 1912 . Original full leather binding with dark brown leather boards with blind stamp decoration and title: "East Anglia In The XX Century. Contemporary Biographies". Inner gilt dentelles. Grey marbled endpapers. English text and black & white illustrations and photographs throughout. Each page has a light-blue lined border. A very good copy of this excellent reference book. Pike's New Century Series 1898-1912 by W. T. Pike, Brighton. Each volume in this series features a county or major city, it's history, institutions, architecture and biographies. The latter, arranged in sections, include industrialists. Though self-selected, these profiles are an indispensable for any work on the Edwardian business elite. William Thomas Pike was born in 1838. He was married on November 8, 1869, in Brighton, Sussex to Emma Agnes Reading. He died on April 22, 1924, in Steyning, Sussex, at the age of 86.
