The rear appears to have been partly stripped by a previous owner and has a shinier finish. There are some circular marks to the top writing surface and general signs of age/use, all in keeping with the piece and adding to its rustic character. The drawer lock mechanism appears functional, though there is no key for the roll top shutter. A previous owner has made an access hole to the rear to release the lock. The drawers open and close well, and the shutter runs smoothly without issue. The desk separates into two sections for easier transport: base drawer section and top roll top section.
