Exceedingly Rare Set of Eight Blue Astrid Liquor Glasses & Decanter Designed by Simon Gate for Orrefors C1922-65

Description A stunning set of eight liquor glasses and a matching decanter in the ‘Astrid’ pattern, designed by Simon Gate in 1922 for Orrefors Glassworks and in production until 1965. Design no. G521/2. An exceedingly rare blue-hued example, typically found in smoke-brown or grey, thus far, we have not found another recorded example on the market. Made by the Sandvik branch of the Orrefors Glassworks, which specialised in utility glass production. The liquor glasses have elegant bell bowls above delicate hand-formed biomorphic stems. Date & Origin Orrefors Glassworks, Sweden, 1922 - 1965. Period of King Gustaf V. Condition Excellent. No chips, cracks or restoration.
