Description
A charming French solid silver egg cup, dating to the early 20th century and most likely the Art Deco period, circa 1920–1935.
It is of traditional pedestal form, the cup has a rounded bowl raised on a circular spreading foot and is decorated around the exterior with an attractive series of geometric floral motifs, very much in keeping with the Art Deco taste of the period.
One panel is engraved with the initials:

The interior retains its attractive gilt finish, creating a rich contrast with the silver exterior.
The piece carries two French helmeted Minerva head hallmark, denoting French 1st standard silver of .950 fineness.
At 28 grams, this is a nicely made piece of French table silver with both decorative and practical appeal.

In good antique condition, with light surface scratching and minor wear consistent with age and use. The gilt interior remains particularly attractive, with some light age-related rubbing and tonal variation. The engraved decoration remains clear and decorative. The initials GB are clearly engraved to one side. No obvious major dents, splits or repairs are visible from the photographs.
