Description
George Iii silver gilt and agate vinaigrette, London 1801 by Richard Lockwood and John Douglass (reg. 12th August 1800). Oval shape with a hinged lid set with a banded agate and a stand-away hinge. The sides have an engraved striated decoration and there is a suspension loop. The interior has a hinged, unmarked, possibly gold grill. Grill pierced and engraved with acorns enclosing a shaped ellipse. Marked to the base of the interior only, stamped Gaimes London for William Gaimes and Elizabeth Gaimes est.1801. Closes well, agate in excellent condition, grill good and secure and hallmarks are clear
