Georgian Green Colour Opaque Twist Wine Glass c.1820

This is an excellent early 19th Century (c.1820) antique colour opaque twist wine glass that has a flared bell bowl above an triple opaque twist stem consisting of an 8-ply multi spiral twist (evenly spread down the stem), outside a tight 8-ply multi-spiral band, outside a translucent aqua green enamel column. Conical foot. Date & Origin:- Germany or Northern Europe, c1820 Comments:- A very unusual and rare opaque twist glass which weighs 175 grams with a low lead thick walled bowl, so quiet a heavy glass. The metal would suggest a pre gas fired kiln and the form is very northern continental. We would say the ply’s are a little hard on the eye but the translucent aqua green is magnificent.
