Description
A superb English lead 18th Century export wine glass in pale green.
It has a round funnel bowl above a closed hollow stem with two applied collars and a band of applied prunts. High conical folded foot.
These glasses were made in England for export into the European market.
You can see an almost identical unengraved example in 'Coloured Glass by Derek C David and Keith Middlemas' where they show a selection of Export glasses from the mid 18th century on pages 22 and 23.

Historical Context:-
In 1782 with the repeal of "The Act of Proscription" it became legal again to wear the kilt and tartans in Scotland.
