Ian Seymour Wells (1937-2019) Oil / Acrylic on Canvas 'Sydney'

A mid-20th century Cubist style oil/acrylic on canvas onto artists board 'Sydney' (Australia) by Ian Seymour Wells Ra (1937 - 2019). Signed, titled and dated 1962 verso. The work is oak box framed and has been glued into the frame from the rear not with the 'greatest' of care (please see images) but the front canvas remains in very good, honest original condition with only a small match head sized hole to the canvas located middle left side (see image). Ian Seymour Wells Ra (Royal Academy) was a drawing tutor at the world renowned Central Saint Martins arts and design college based in central London (originally founded in 1854 in Sheldon Street, London near the Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields) and an interesting fact is that St Martins acceptance rate for talented students is only around the 6% mark. Wells was recognised in the Australian art world and exhibited in London during the 1960's and 70's and his first piece to be offered at auction was a work entitled 'Nepal' at Bonhams Knightsbridge, London in 2009.
