By the middle of the 20th Century modernist ideals had firmly set into the art world. Paintings often drew away from the traditional realism of the past to focus instead on imparting more modern ideas and concepts. Abstraction, Impressionism and Pop Art became more popular with brighter colours, bolder texture and humour built in. One of the great things about exploring and collecting vintage art is the ability to rediscover artists whose fame sadly faded or who never saw the spotlight at all. As well as the aesthetic appeal this is also where financial values tend to go up.
