Description
1 British ImpressionistOil Painting Landscape Banks of the Wye Coppet Hill Herefordshire By Charles Neal. Make a big statement, wow your clients & guests by adding a touch of the beautiful Herefordshire countryside to your office & home wall space with this impressionist masterpiece. Title Field Scene “Banks of the Wye, Coppet Hill Herefordshire” by Charles Neal. Oil on canvas. Subject landscape view of the known British southern landscape honeypot view of Coppet Hill in Herefordshire set during summertime. Signed near the bottom corner by the well-known impressionist artist Charles Neal. Circa late 20th century. In our opinion this is among his finest works and a great earlier example of his work. Set in a recent Larson Juhl moulded decorative frame which enhances this painting even further. Such an impressive display size with the frame being 63.5 cm wide and 74 cm high. Your first notice about this painting are the rich warm summer colours, the hues are so vivid and really stand out which you will love the dark to light greens, golden yellows, white, subtle purples, sky blue, browns & pink. You can see 3 men farm workers walking in the field right by the banks of the river Wye in the distance, they are wearing hats and white shirts. In the foreground is Coppet Hill the high ground, with tall foliage & long grass with bluebell flowers mixed in. You can see tall trees to the left with hedegrows in the distant distance with other fieldson the other side. Above light blue sky with mixed white cloud spread out. You can feel that you are drawn into the peace and tranquillity of this delightful country scene. Artist biography Charles Neal British was born in the 1951. Coppett Hill is south of the village of Goodrich, four miles to the south of Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire. There are a variety of different habitats; woodland & grassland. Bluebells cover the hill in springtime and it is known as being a great spot to leaf peep the autumn colours. The hill was made naturally by the River Wye cutting through the limestone area with erosion, you can still see lime kilns visible on the eastern side of the hill. From the east side views towards Ruardean also Lydbrook with the Forest of Dean beyond. From the trig point which is the highest peak of the hill which is some 188 metres high, at the top you can see views to the west over the village of Goodrich to the Black Mountains also views to the north over Ross-on-Wye to the Malvern Hills &Shropshire.
