* Mezzotint is an engraving technique developed in the 17th century which allows for the creation of prints with soft graduation of tone with rich velvety blacks * This is a superb example of a large mezzotint engraving titled 'Pamela' after de la riviere * The engraving is by Gullard and signed in pencil lower right * Published in 1914 by C. Harry Dickins * The engraving was not removed from the frame for photographing so please excuse white light reflection marks * The engraving comes with its original period mount and frame which does have the odd chip and mark
