Late 19th Century Italian bronze ‘Grand Tour’ sculpture, after the antique, “The Dancing Faun of Pompeii “ This figure is well cast and depicts a youthful satyr or faun dancing with joy, head and arms raised, featuring subtle goat horns and a tail and mounted on a plinth base, which is inscribed " Musee de Naple". In very good and original condition and with a good brown patina. 640mm high, 240mm wide and 200mm deep. Italy. Circa 1890. N.B. The original piece is preserved at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli in Italy, while a modern replica stands at the archaeological site in Pompeii.
