Loetz Iridescent Art Nouveau Green Glass Vase C1910

Description An Art Nouveau glass vase produced by Loetz in Austria between 1900 and 1920. Known as a ‘pique fleurs’ or flower frog, the green glass has an iridescent shimmer that accentuates its diamond-patterned body. The vase’s spiralling form is reminiscent of a coiling snake, a motif that Loetz commonly incorporated into its designs. It is quite distinctive and is sometimes referred to as a "Martele" or "coiled honeycomb" pattern. The removable metal ‘frog’ grille, designed to stand and arrange a floral display, fits neatly to the rim. Condition Oxidation of the metal grille and some minor fritting to the hidden lip.
