While a glass vase can be a very simple object, elegant curves and fine details usually makes it a perfect accompaniment to anything it contains. From the 19th Century onwards, artists really began pushing the boundaries for how a glass vase could look using enticing bold colours and creating beautiful organic forms. Indeed, from being a simple utilitarian object many vases became works of art themselves. Among the best-known names in such glass are Galle, Lalique and Loetz who produced at the start of the 20th Century. As styles changed and more abstract forms were followed, makers such as Mdina and Orrefors added geometric designs to their vases and by the middle of the 20th Century companies such as Whitefriars and Murano were experimenting with textures and bright colours as well.
As any interior designer knows a beautiful vase can completely change the look of any space and for collectors there are a wealth of designs and craftspeople to go exploring for. At LoveAntiques we have a fine selection of antique and vintage glass vases to suit any need.
