Medieval Revival Roemer Dram Glass C1880-1910

Description An antique olive green Roemer wine glass produced during the Medieval Revival period of late Victorian to early Edwardian England. The glass features a long funnel bowl with a furnace-fired rim and a hollow knopped stem with applied ‘prunts’ (small berry-like decorations) for grip. The pedestal foot is flared with applied threading and a snapped pontil to the base. Date & Origin England, c1880-1910. Period of Queen Victoria to King George VI. Condition Excellent. No chips, cracks or restoration. Dimensions Height: 12cm Bowl Diameter: 5.1cm Foot Diameter: 5.4cm Historical Context Roemer glasses are a traditional German and Dutch style of drinking glass based on those more ancient examples known as Waldglas (Forest Glass), a type of greenish-tinted glass produced in Europe, particularly the Rhine region, Germany, and Bohemia, through the Middle Ages approx. 1000–1700AD.
