A lovely piece of functional mid 18th century Georgian furniture, this oak settle provides both seating and storage. It will look great in a hallway, where it can be used to sit down to take off boots and shoes, whilst storing these and the paraphernalia of dog walking. It will also provide a practical seating option for a country kitchen.
- Panelled seat back and box front, with coffered sides.
- Iron hinges to lift the seat and access the box.
- Lovely colour and tactile patina.
- Comfortable depth to the seat.
In sturdy condition showing wear consistent with age and use. The lock is present, but the key is not available. There are signs of historical woodworm damage, as to be expected for a piece of this age, and there is some checking and wear to the panels, but the piece is sturdy and functional.
