Description
This is a lovely period print of the county of Essex, England. This detailed map originates from Samuel Lewis' Topographical dictionary series, published in 1845. The books contained detailed topographical accounts of places, parishes and counties in England. Charmingly this example has a noticeable lack of any railway lines or stations, showing that the map was drawn pre the age of steam travel and industrialization. Presented in a mounted, gilt frame the map is a lovely factual and decorative piece. Drawn by R. Creighton, Engraved by T. Starling. Origin:- English Date:- c1845
