Harold Kopel ( 1915- 2009) Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Harold Kopel studied art at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London. He exhibited frequently in group exhibitions including with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Free Painters and Sculptors and the New English Art Club, as well as holding a number of solo shows. This work is typical of Kopel’s aim ‘to convey his struggle to capture the mystery of nature’ and a range of moods, always seeking to ‘suggest, never dictate.’
