Description

Impress your clients and guests with this imposing animal masterpiece statement artwork for your office or home wall space. • Title "Scottish Terriers in Highlands Loch Awe" • In the style of after Samuel Fulton Samual Fulton was a known Scottish artist born in the year 1855 and died in 1941; he was known especially for his paintings of dogs. • Signed in the lower bottom corner by the British artist E Cook • Oil on board set in the original gilt frame • Circa mid 20th century Scottish terrier white and black dogs perched imposingly on the edge of the stone boulders rocky shoreline. Lower down to the left is purple heather and green grass foliage. Over to the right flank are the beautiful choppy waters of Loch Awe, with breathtaking perspective views of the mountains high ground in the background. Above overcast grey and white cloud sky. A rather nice display size with the frame being 44.5 cm high and 33.5 cm wide. A great example of the animal breed. A further fascinating feature is on the back is the artist’s initial pencil sketch showing the outlines. Loch Awe (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Obha; also sometimes anglicised as Lochawe, Lochaw, or Lochow) is a large body of freshwater in Argyll and Bute, Scottish Highlands. It has also given its name to a village on its banks, variously known as Loch Awe or Lochawe. There are islands within the loch such as Innis Chonnell and Inishail. It is the third largest freshwater loch in Scotland with a surface area of 38.5 square kilometres (14.9 sq mi). It is the longest freshwater loch in Scotland, measuring 41 kilometres (25 mi) from end to end with an average width of 1-kilometre (0.62 mi). The loch runs approximately south-west to north-east, roughly parallel to the two sea lochs of Loch Etive and Loch Fyne. Via the River Awe and Loch Etive it drains westward from its northern end and thus into the Atlantic Ocean. At the narrowest section of the loch are North Port (Taychreggan Hotel) and South Port (Portsonachan Hotel). Once used by cattle drovers, a ferry ran between these shores to facilitate crossing to markets beyond. The Transatlantic Cable, which runs through the village of Kilchrenan, was laid across at this point in 1955. Provenance from a private seller in Scotland and in collection of Cheshire Antiques Consultant Ltd. • Highly sought after due to the collectible animal and scenic nature of subject matter, such elaborate detail • With hanging thread on the back ready for immediate home wall display • Incredible conversation piece for your guests We only select and sell paintings based upon subject, quality and significance.
