Description
Great quality surrealist gouache of Mary, Jesus and 2 Donkeys. The work was purchased by me, C.1990 from Elspeth Buchanan in Edinburgh. Elspeth told me that the work was by Owen but it is unsigned and must be sold as attributed to him.
Painter and printmaker. Studied at Edinburgh College of Art, 1921–3, with Gerald Moira, then at L’Académie Moderne, Paris, 1923–5, with Amédée Ozenfant and Fernand Léger. Exhibited RA, LG, NEAC, RBA and RSA. Was a member of the Society of Sussex Painters. Lived in Steyning, Sussex.
