Pair of 19th Century Overshot Glass Wine Carafes c.1880

Superb pair of 19th century overshot glass wine carafes dating to c1880. They have gilded rims and can hold over 1 bottles of wine each. Idea for dinner table or display. Date & Origin:- Boston & Sandwich USA (c.1880) Comments:- Overshot glass was made during the Victorian era in many different locations, including England, Europe and the USA where Boston & Sandwich made some outstanding decorative and functional pieces. It is created by rolling the hot glass in tiny pieces of broken glass and then reheated to remove the sharp edges producing a very rustic look and feel. One of a number of superb examples from the amazing glass collection of John and Poppy Stallebrass.
