This is a pair of antique elephant bookends. An African, milk onyx decorative novel or book rest, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Great character and display appeal for the avid reader. Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Skilfully carved milk onyx presents warm cream hues with amber vein interest. Jovial renditions of the African elephant with appealing shape. Quality cream coloured baize adds protection to the base. Ideal for lining up favourite novels upon a wall shelf or within a cabinet
