Description
This is a pair of antique carved lion bookends. Oriental, ebonised ironwood book rest with animal figure interest, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Ferocious lion forms, with a charming decorative appearance displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order. Hand-carved ironwood with an ebonised finish. Prominent teeth to the open mouths create a dynamic, prowling look. Protective leather pads dress the bases and feet of each lion.
This is a fascinating pair of antique carved lion bookends, with a wonderful hand-carved appearance. Delivered ready for the home.
