This is a pair of antique lion bookends. An English, cast iron decorative book rest, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.
Bountiful character and of impressive weight in the hand. Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order. Quality cast iron presents a good, consistent graphite finish. Dressed to the base with an emerald green baize. Tactile and substantial in the hand, weighing 3.95kg and 3.41kg respectively.
This is a delightful pair of antique lion bookends, with appealing weight and a charming appearance. Perfect for the desktop or mantlepiece. Delivered polished and ready for the home.
