Century Mahogany Gainsborough Chairs, the arched backs flanked by shaped, scrolled, moulded and carved arms and terminals, the saddle shaped seats raised on square section chamfered legs united by an “H” stretcher. Circa 1760 Price: £8000. Height: 37.5”, 95 cms / Width: 26.5”,67 cms / Depth: 28.5”, 72.5 cms Note: There are numerous examples of this model of chair referred to by Chippendale as “French Chairs” and pieces by him often have the identical arm terminals with the carved inner and outer scrolls.
