Description
Gentleman's rare World War 1 pocket watch chain brass fob by William James Dingley. Measures; 2.7cm height (including the top ring), 2.3cm wide and weighs a respectable 4.6 grams. Circular bevel edge brass fob which depicts in great detail to the front a slightly raised image of King George V with an acanthus decoration running up the right hand side. Clearly stamped in raised script; GOD SAVE THE KING. Stamped to base with the makers initials; W.J.D. B'HAM - William James Dingley (one of the leading English silversmiths and medallists, Est 1857 - 1932). The back again carries an acanthus leaf decoration and is stamped in slightly raised script; ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN TO DO HIS DUTY. Original brass top ring. Excellent clean and bright condition with no damage or wear and just a tiny bit of extremely light (micro) overall patina and fine little surface scratches (all showing under eyeglass only) commensurate with age.
