Rare 18th Century Hinged Silver Patch Box

An unusual silver patch box from the late 18th Century period. This beautiful example is of oval form with a hinged lid. The interior is fully gilded. Both base and lid have corresponding hallmarks. Patch boxes are interesting and rather rare items. They were for keeping 'beauty spots' in, which were a regular feature of the Georgian's toilette practices, both for women and men alike. A charming collector's piece, suitable for use as a small pillbox.
