Initialled to the lower middle right, oil on panel

Provenance: Thomas Agnew & Sons, Manchester, 14, Exchahe Street and The Rowley Gallery Ltd, 115 Kensington Church Street.
Condition: Horizontal split which has been replaced and cradled.

Richard Parkes Bonington (1802ā1828) was a highly influential British Romantic painter who revolutionized watercolor landscape painting, blending it with brilliant oil techniques. Though he died of tuberculosis at 25, his brief career in France and England bridged English landscape techniques with French Romanticism, influencing artists like Delacroix and the Barbizon School.
