They are transfer printed with illustrations of Dickens characters by famous Royal Doulton artist and modeller, Charles Noke. The plate is decorated with Mr Pickwick the titular character from Pickwick Papers, the dishes are decorated with illustrations of Tony Weller also of Pickwick Papers and the Mr Micawber character from David Copperfield.
