It is based on one of Erte’s famous cover designs for Harper’s Bazaar originally created in July 1920. Born Romain de Tirtoff, Erte took his pseudonym from the French pronunciation of his initials, RT. Erté was a multi-talented 20th century artist and designer whose works are seen in a wide array of fields, including fashion, jewellery, graphic arts, costume and set designs for film, theatre and opera and interior décor. The artist Erte is considered the Father of Art Deco the style that came into vogue internationally in the 1920s.
