Description
Set of Six Anglo-Dutch walnut and parcel-gilt high-back dining chairs in the Late 17th-Century Queen Anne Taste, in the manner of Daniel Marot structurally prepared for bespoke upholstery. A striking set of six Anglo-Dutch walnut and parcel-gilt high-back dining chairs dating to the 19th century and conceived in the late 17th-century Queen Anne taste, closely reflecting designs associated with Daniel Marot. The tall scrolled cresting's rise above pierced variform splats, while overstuffed seats and arched rails are supported by carved cabriole forelegs joined by moulded stretchers. The combination of warm walnut and softly aged parcel gilt gives the set an architectural yet decorative presence, well suited to both classical and contemporary interiors. Subtle variations between the chairs — in carving, surface tone, and gentle wear — reflect their hand-finished nature and add to the individuality expected of decorative seating inspired by earlier Anglo-Dutch forms. One rear upright retains an old bracket repair to the reverse; long established and structurally sound, it carries a certain quiet honesty that sits comfortably with the age and story of the set rather than distracting from it. Upholstery: The chairs have recently undergone structural upholstery preparation and are intentionally offered awaiting their final covering fabric. Presenting them in this way allows the next owner or designer to select a textile that complements their own scheme, avoiding the compromise of an already-finished seat. We are pleased to include the fitting of buyer-supplied fabric within the purchase price, providing a straightforward route to a fully bespoke finish once the desired material is chosen.

condition
Structurally sound and recently prepared for upholstery, ready for customer-supplied top fabric. Parcel-gilt decoration displays natural variation, with areas of wear and softening in keeping with age rather than uniform crispness. One rear upright retains a small handmade iron bracket repair to the reverse; firm and unobtrusive, it lends a quietly characterful detail that reflects the life of the chairs over time.Overall a decorative and characterful set ready for bespoke finishing.
