'Group of Idlers' Sir William Russell Flint artists proof bearing printed and pencil signature with letters of provenance. Sir William Russell Flint is an artist who's works are currently experiencing resurgence of interest. His original paintings are going for thousands at Auction, sometimes 10's of thousands. This artists proof was sold to it's latest owner in 1996 by Paul Hunnings, the Husband of Mary Berry who sold Antique books and Art from his Gallery in Chorleywood. It bears a label with some insight into the plight of the artist as noted by Sir William Flint himself and the letter provides an insight for the collector with regards to the story of this limited edition run. It also contains a direct quote from the artist who wrote about the picture as follows: 'I set out to make a drawing of three standing figures. The girl on the left reluctantly agreed to stand but eyed me reproachfully throughout the session. The other two flatly refused. I am almost tempted to publish their names!'
