Overview An original watercolour on artist-quality paper by Charles Frederick Tunnicliffe (1901–1979), executed circa the 1950s. The painting depicts a Song Thrush perched on a flowering branch captured in mid-song. The sheet is monogrammed “CT” in the lower margin, consistent with authenticated mid-century examples from the artist. Subject & Significance Tunnicliffe is among the foremost British wildlife artists of the twentieth century; this work exemplifies his mature synthesis of scientific observation and refined composition. The Song Thrush is rendered as both an ornithological study and an accomplished decorative work — a desirable addition for collectors of British natural history art.
