This is a fine painting by the artist Edward Morgan depicting figures in an indoor market and is executed in oils on canvas Albert Edward Joseph Morgan was a black country artist, born in Wolverhampton and he made his living as a commercial artist, working for a time at Cadbury's but then setting up on his own. He sold art work for adverts in local papers, and later became a leading national lapel badge designer. His other life was as a fine artist. In his teens he would roam the surrounding countryside painting local churches, farms and scenes. If they showed interest, a vicar or house owner would often be given the resulting picture as a gift. Over the years he developed a style he called "roundism". According to Edward, nature is almost entirely described in circles and rounded shapes: "it is man that has invented the straight line." "For many years I painted in a realistic manner before creating this style it gives me great contentment of mind. Painting has become an adventure, and for me each picture has a great meaning."
