The Wilson Family - Three Miniature Portraits Framed as One

I think it is likely that this was commissioned as a mourning piece as it is obvious that the Father has not been painted from life. The portraits are executed with charcoal and wash on paper and briefly individually identified on the reverse., stating the Father Wm (William) married in 1770, Ellen (unable to read maiden name) wife of and Thomas (unable to read middle name) son of. Although none of the portraits are either signed or dated, I do think they are very finely executed especially the portraits of the mother and the son. With the only date given on the piece as the date of the marriage, 1770 I would imagine it would date to circa 1800. The portraits sit in an ebonised wooden frame with grey mount which although it certainly has age, I am not sure is the original frame.
