Unusual Late 19th Century Large Japanese Arita Charger
This is an unusually decorated Meiji period (c.1880) large Japanese charger from the Arita area. Hand painted central panel in overglazed enamels portraying Manchurian cranes with stylised landscape and sky with a decorated rim. Unusual pallette of colours. Underside decorated in underglaze design. Unmarked base.

This charger is in excellent condition commensurate with age. No chips, cracks or restoration. Several glaze flaws as is commonly seen in antique Arita / Imari porcelain. Some minor areas of overglaze losses to border decoration. Please see images as these form an important part of the description.
