A handsome Victorian burr walnut Davenport writing desk, dating to the late 19th century, with richly figured timber, a lift-up writing surface and elegant carved cabriole legs. The desk is crafted from burr walnut, prized for its distinctive swirling grain and warm colour. The sloping writing surface lifts to reveal a fitted interior with useful compartments for stationery and writing materials, while a bank of side drawers provides additional practical storage. Decorative carved cabriole legs with scroll feet give the piece a refined Victorian appearance, while the compact footprint makes it particularly suitable for a study, home office, bedroom or hallway. The leather writing surface has been recently replaced and provides a clean, practical area for everyday use while allowing the desk to retain its period character.
