Description
A handsome Victorian coromandel veneered Tantalus dating from the late 19th century, featuring the desirable locking front panel and original key. The interior retains its fitted compartments with velvet lining and is fitted with a square glass decanter and a pair of etched cordial or liqueur glasses. The brass plaque inside is marked "Patent No. 191", a patent number associated with Victorian Tantalus designs of the period. Similar examples were produced in coromandel and other fine woods during the late Victorian era. The rich coromandel veneer displays striking grain patterns throughout, making this an attractive display piece as well as a practical drinks cabinet. The locking mechanism operates with the supplied key.
