Impress your clients & guests with this hunting statement artwork in your office or home wall space.
Title “Jack Russell Terrier Dogs in Barn Chasing a Rat Ratting” by Edward Aistrop c1880.
Subject portrait in side profile showing Two fierce Jack Russell Terrier dogs facing towards the right chasing a rat who is running away in an old barn. Both dogs are panting chasing and are intent on capturing killing the rat prey. The dog closest to the viewer is white and black, the other dog is white and brown.
A great example of the animal breed. Oil on board with a front protective glass cover. Signed bottom corner by the known British animal artist Edward Aistrop. In our opinion this is very fine example of his work.
Set in a traditional original wood frame which has been later painted black, with hanging thread on the back ready for immediate home wall display.
Artist biography Edward Aistrop was a British Impressionist & Modern artist. Aistrops’ works have been exhibited at galleries & auction houses around the world, the current highest sold price set is $8,219 Us Dollars which was for study of a Pug dog at Christie’s. Aistrop’s a known painter especially of animals like dogs. He operated during the late Victorian era 19th century and early 20th century he really flourished as an artist between 1880-1920. He was regularly requested to paint champion pets, his especially sought after works are dogs hunting ratting. He was such an accomplished artist he was able to convey to the viewer the actual character of the dogs that he painted.
Provenance from a high end art auction in the ceremonial county in south east of England and in collection of Cheshire Antiques Consultant Ltd. Partial remnant of an old gallery label also present.
