I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a shop at 26 High St Wallingford (OX100BU) between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

William Daniell RA : Engraving of Fortrose, Rossshire, from "A Voyage Round Great Britian"
William Daniell Ra (1769-1837) was an English landscape and marine painter and printmaker, notable for his work in aquatint. In 1813, he started work on his greatest achievement: a series of aquatints for "A Voyage Round Great Britain" which he published with his friend Ayton between 1814-25. There were 308 illustrations done for this work of which this, of the Pier at Fortrose, Rossshire, is one, dated 1821. Daniell was elected a member of the Royal Academy in 1822.
Daniell always manages to make his scenes look tranquil and serene. Fortrose is on the Moray Firth on the North East coast of Scotland. The sandstone pier was built in 1817, shortly before this drawing was made and is still there today.
