WW2 Japanese Brass Oil Can with Three Character Mark

A WW2 Japanese portable weapons oiler with three characters to one side that roughly translate 'Little oil comes in', a reference to the constant struggle for vital oil by the Japanese forces during World War 2. This oil can was at some point in the past, during or after the conflict, converted to a oil or spirit burner, possibly after it was captured by the allies as a souvenir of war and converted to something useful post-war, however this is all just speculation as its real history is largely unknown. The patches of solder visible on the top are clear signs that the original handles were removed and the wicker burner introduced. This is a unique and fascinating piece of trench art dating back to one of the most important historical events of the 20th Century.
