Georg Jensen was a Danish artisan revered for his modernist use of silver and is very widely collected. After Graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Denmark in 1892 Jensen tried his hand at ceramic work, but by 1901 was convinced that his true passion lay in Silverware. He set up his own studio in 1904 which gained a good reputation but struggled financially until his brother-in-law stepped in to help him to grow the business. In the end the long-term success of the Jensen brand was its early adoption of modernism and the simplicity of line it demanded. This created elegant forms which remain as attractive and practical today as when they were first made. At LoveAntiques we have a good range of antique and vintage Georg Jensen pieces all from highly trusted dealers.
