R. A. Lister & Co. Ltd (1867- 1907)

Formed in 1867 by Robert Ashton Lister to make a range of agricultural machinery, the firm is noted to have been involved in a broad range of equipment manufacture until around the turn of the century when they branched out into shearing and milking machines, milk churns and barrels. Off-cuts of wood from these endeavours were used to create all manner of products from vases and tubs to garden seats and stick stands which in turn became a profitable side-line.
