W. Coulthard & Co - Silversmith

W. Coulthard & Co (later W. Coulthard Ltd.) was an English silversmithing firm established in the late 19th century. Originally registered in Birmingham in 1897, the company produced decorative and domestic items like boxes, bowls, condiments, and souvenir spoons. The company initially operated from Northampton Street in Birmingham, registering marks for both the Birmingham and Chester assay offices. After becoming W. Coulthard Ltd. around 1912, they maintained activity through the 1920s. While often confused with the industrial firm 'wm' Coulthard & Co. Ltd. in Carlisle (which was founded in 1888 for engineering), the silver manufacturer was known for high-quality domestic metalwares.
