9 Silkscreen Prints by Ken Sprague 1927-2004 Depicting the Invasion of Czechoslovacia in 1968.

Ken was born in Bournemouth in 1927 and his first art work was in response to the Guernica air raid of 1937 which he made from a piece of torn up lino, printed on his mother's mangle. he enlisted with the Royal Marines at 17 and later was flown to Yugoslavia to bring back a German ejector seat which he apparently accomplished. After the war, he had jobs including a circus boxer, before finishing his art diploma in illustration and design. He became a set designed and then moved into political illustration with a left wing agenda. As a poster and print-maker he worked with a number of leading progressive organisations and individuals, including Pete Seeger. He drew political cartoons for the Daily Worker and its successor the Morning Star, and for Tribune and Peace News. He created posters for among others Martin Luther King Jr. and the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp. This suite of Lithographs were a direct response to the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia and his anti war sentiments.
