An absolutely gorgeous Victorian signet ring crafted from 9st rose gold and silver. Beautifully detailed and unusual this is sure to bring a smile to your face. Hallmarked old style UK and fully x-ray tested. Lovely Art Nouveau panelled design to the front. Possibly originally set with marcasites. Dates to latter part of the 20th Century c1880s. In olden times the alloying of gold left it too soft to mount stones in effectively. For this reason other metals were used to provide a more secure setting - in this instance silver. Width across front is 17.7 mm. Width at the back is 1.8 mm. Total height of front panel is 5.4mm. It is only my opinion but I feel antique items that are polished too much lose some of the character.
