Antique Admiral's Writing Station, English, Walnut, Stationery Case - Regency

This is an antique admiral's writing station. An English, walnut and brass desktop correspondence or stationery case, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820. Superb craftsmanship with a delightfully practical nature and excellent form, that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout. Select walnut stocks present fine grain interest, with warm caramel hues. The distinguished book-matched fascia being particularly fetching. Fall front cabinet, dressed with a brass lock escutcheon — in working order, key present. Opening to reveal a suite of arcaded pigeon holes, lidded pen tray and a skiver. Finished in dark blue leather, the skiver is tooled and embossed with some gentle ageing. Replete with a pair of glass ink wells and two calligraphy pens.
